The Met Gala — the night where fashionistas everywhere come home from work and collectively sit in front of our laptops, smartphones, tablets — clicking and clicking, scrolling and scrolling eager to see what outfits the world’s top actors, models, pop stars, and fashion icons are wearing to one of the most interesting nights in fashion. It is the night for the bold risk, the costume-like design, the risqué hemline, the ornamental jewels. “If not at the Met Gala,” we imagine a stylists urging, as they dance around their starlet client, “then, when else?”

Check out RAGTRADE Atlanta’s favorite looks from this year’s red carpet for the opening of the Costume Institute’s “China: Through the Looking Glass” exhibit:

1. Kendall. Jenner. in Calvin Klein – (Please notice the punctuation.) The international model absolutely owned this dress. Clearly no ‘side-boob’ laws on this red carpet!

2. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture – Oh, J-Law. You never disappoint. I’m going to go ahead and apologize in advance to my good friend Katherine for this one. (Lets just say Katherine has some lingering ‘hometown beef’ with Ms. Lawrence.) But, if you think Jen’s red carpet dress was incredible, just wait until you see her showstopper look at the after party.

3. Sienna Miller in Thakoon – We are big fans of menswear on the red carpet and especially the women that can pull it off. This custom Thakoon tuxedo is both sexy, bold and perfect. Way to go Sienna.

4. Beyonce in – Well, the Queen B shut it down. Not only was the gown and the hott bod underneath absolute perfection, the custom peek-a-boo Givenchy Haute Couture gown was the ideal choice to play on the ‘through the looking glass’ theme.

5. Kim Kardashian West in Roberto Cavalli – Mrs. West also stunned the red carpet in a ‘barely there’ number. However, in case you haven’t heard, the internet is in an uproar because her gown looks incredibly similar to her ‘BFF’ Bey’s dress in 2008. If this wasn’t on purpose, I would hate to be Keek’s stylist right now.

6. Miley Cyrus in Alexander Wang- Full disclose: I am a fan of Miley Cyrus. Now, I don’t condone all of her actions, but she’s talented and she’s developed her own, iconic personal style that has influenced the fashion industry. (Respect!) The fashion chameleon turned heads (no surprise here) rocking her new blue hair in a sexy, high-collar cutout custom gown by Alexander Wang.

7. Justin Bieber in Balmain – I’ll have to hand this one to Biebs. The pop star was one of the only men who really ‘went for it’ on the carpet this year. This custom Balmain blazer was styled perfectly with a simple, all-black look.

8. Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli Couture – This may be one of our controversial picks this year, but we’re sticking to it. The Met Gala theme prompted a lot of red this year, but we think this gown was perfect– sweet, but interesting– a great pick for Allison.

9. Dree Hemingway in Coach – I have to admit this look is a personal pick of mine. When I saw it, I knew there was a backstory… Check it out.

10. Liya Kebede in 3.1 Phillip Lim – Again, we love a girl that can successfully break away from the gown and go for the bold. The model pleasantly surprised us with this embellished 3.1 Phillip Lim tunic over crisp white slacks. She finished her look with sharp black pumps and a scarlet lip.
