ATLANTA, GA, April 27, 2018/ — marks the 5th year RAGTRADE ATLANTA has worked diligently to grow Atlanta’s fashion community.  Since its inception, RAGTRADE ATLANTA has collaborated with hundreds of industry professionals and community partners including Lincoln Motor Company and Dress for Success, hosted thousands of attendees at their official fashion week, activated numerous fashion networking opportunities, launched an online mobile app and connected thousands of their unique website visitors to up and coming emerging designers, the latest fashion news and more.

Founder and Executive Director of RAGTRADE ATLANTA, Angela Watts, created this organization in 2013 to build a fashion community that nurtures and promotes the work of emerging fashion designers to a global market. “The 5th year anniversary of RAGTRADE ATLANTA is a great time to reflect on our previous years and more importantly realign our goals to develop programs that foster a well-respected global fashion community.”

Over the past five years, RAGTRADE ATLANTA has launched five initiatives to grow the community. The RAGTRADE ATLANTA Membership Program provides a resource for emerging designers and business professionals to network, develop their skills and grow their businesses. In partnership with Fashion in Atlanta, “CULTIVATE” is a monthly fashion meet-up designed for discussions on how to progress the fashion industry in Atlanta through lectures, panels and special guests. “The Showroom”, in collaboration with W Atlanta-Buckhead, grants local and national emerging designers and retail brands an opportunity to have their collections featured and sold. RAGTRADE ATLANTA has also produced a fashion week showcasing local and international emerging designer collections to a diverse audience including press, buyers and consumers. The organization also curates an official fashion calendar highlighting local fashion events hosted by local businesses.

RAGTRADE ATLANTA has been pivotal to several emerging designers in the Atlanta market. Emerging designer and entrepreneur Natt Taylor has received tremendous success in the Atlanta fashion market and beyond. Designers such as Kenya Freeman, a recent finalist for Project Runway Season 16, has been a part of the RAGTRADE ATLANTA Runway Show for the past three years. Due to this growing community, both designers have worked with major brands such as the Lincoln Motor Company and more.

“Because of RAGTRADE ATLANTA, our brand awareness and clientele has increased. We’ve also received recognition as an emerging artist from the city of Atlanta,” said Natt Taylor.

RAGTRADE ATLANTA has received an abundant amount of attention in the media over the years. The fashion force has been mentioned in publications such as Haute Living, Rolling Out Magazine, Kontrol Magazine, Upscale Magazine, Jezebel Magazine, Creative Loafing and more. In 2014, RAGTRADE ATLANTA was awarded the Phoenix Award on behalf of Mayor Kasim Reed and the city of Atlanta for outstanding achievements and service to Atlanta’s creative community.

To kick off the five-year celebration, RAGTRADE ATLANTA will release a series of content highlighting the community’s growth over the past five years. A year end celebration will take place 4th quarter 2018.
