On Saturday April 22nd from 1:00-5:00 pm, Designer Mateo Harris will present his eponymous jewelry line Mateo New York.

Matthew “Mateo” Harris is originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica, but moved to New York City when he was 16 where he found his love for jewelry and fashion design. Shortly after graduating college Harris founded Mateo New York, a luxury jewelry brand inspired by his childhood memories, travel and life in the big apple.

“I am the son of a seamstress/dressmaker. In some way shape or form I was always creative. My mom rubbed off a bit,” says the designer about his primary muse. “I completed my master’s degree, but somehow I could not imagine sitting at a desk doing a 9-5. Some people are great at it, but that just wasn’t for me. I have to create; I have to express my madness.”

Mateo is a self-taught designer driven by his obsession for jewelry. The collection is sleek, minimal, elegant and inspired by contemporary art and architecture.

Harris will showcase a preview of this season’s newest arrivals and trunk show exclusives. This event will take place at Bloomingdale’s Lenox Square in the fine jewelry department located on level two.
