Wednesday evening was a true testament to the up and coming fashion market in Atlanta! RAGTRADE ATLANTA in partnership with The Art Institute of Atlanta hosted the #MADEINATL Designers Production Process panel discussion. Hosted at The Gathering Spot, 80+ guests, which included emerging designers, stylist, manufacturers and buyers were given the opportunity to mix and mingle before heading into the panel discussion.

Panelists included Tracy Nicole of Tracy Nicole Clothing, Elizabeth Heard, whose hair barrettes have been featured on Good Morning America, Arjun Sawhney of Basic Body Lines and Thomas Gaddis of Factory Girls. Fashion industry veteran, Brett Holcomb moderated the conversation. The discussion began with the panelist sharing their personal experiences in Atlanta’s growing fashion industry followed by invaluable advice about what it takes to produce a product from start to finish.

Key takeaways included:

  • Stay focused and do not give up…it will not be an easy road
  • Research and ask for quotes from several manufacturers before your investment
  • Be mindful on sourcing materials and contractors
  • Finalize patterns, including grading and marker making

The discussion closed with an intriguing Q&A from the audience.
